Information

Fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) is old treatment technique that can positively influence the recipient’s intestinal microbiome and metabolome. There is grade 1 evidence that FMT can reduce the time of hospitalization in dogs with parvovirosis, as well as several case reports and case series reporting a positive clinical response in dogs with chronic enteropathies that do not respond to standard treatment protocols. This seminar will include a short review of dysbiosis, and will provide practical tools on donor screening, how to perform FMT and on which indications. Dr. Toresson will also discuss how FMT can help veterinarians reducing the prescription of antibiotics in dogs with gastrointestinal disorders.
