This presentation will provide a brief review of terminology of ear canal changes associated with otitis including stenosis, epithelial vs nodular hyperplasia and discharge (ceruminous vs purulent). Then, case examples showing progressive worsening of otitis externa will be used to guide discussion on selection of antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory therapy. Anatomic variation and treatment strategies for brachycephalic breeds will be highlighted.
