Information
Clients and the veterinary team play an important role in the success of a nutritional plan in companion animal practice. Effective communication that engages clients in the decision-making process and creates partnership may improve adherence and client satisfaction, which are key outcomes of a nutrition conversation. This session will discuss shared decision-making and a collaborative approach to making recommendations in the context of nutrition conversations. A review of the research evidence, core communication skills, and examples of shared decision-making approaches will be used to equip all veterinary team members with skills they can apply in practice.
