Information

The last 10 years have seen marked improvement in exotic companion species anesthetic protocols; this includes movement away from simple facemask inhalant induction with minimal pre-anesthetics and towards multi-modal anesthetics and analgesics including constant rate infusions and local analgesia. Decision making keeps in mind what is known about particular species, overall condition including co-morbidities, the anticipated length of the procedure and level of discomfort. Of interest is the use of protocols shown useful in high risk cats for ill rabbits. This presentation will incorporate clinical experience and recent PK/PD research information and apply these to challenging clinical cases. Intended Audience: Basic Veterinarian
